Noodreem is the psychedelic ambient project of Darren Sangita, a journey through soundscapes where each track unfolds like cosmic petals, inviting listeners into the delicate beauty of harmonic resonance. These compositions guide paths of introspection, where melodies become a language speaking to heart and soul, encouraging reflection on the mysteries of the universe and the matrix of mystic connection.
The Journey
From Dragonfly Records in the early 1990s—where Darren honed his craft at Youth’s legendary Butterfly Studios, working as studio assistant alongside The Orb, System 7, Shpongle and other pioneers of the psychedelic chill-out movement—through decades of recording with master musicians across India, Noodreem represents a lifelong dedication to creating sonic spaces for meditation, healing, and transcendence.
Performing at major festivals including Boom, Ozora, and venues across the global psytrance scene, the Noodreem sound evolved from the psychedelic dub foundations of the mid-90s into rich electroacoustic fusion, blending Indian classical traditions, Baul mysticism, ambient synthesis, and the deep dub architectures learned from decades absorbing Lee “Scratch” Perry and King Tubby.
Three Decades of Sound
The Noodreem catalog spans from the ethereal ambidelic explorations of early releases like One Love (2005) through the masterful collaborations with Indian classical musicians on Temple of Sonic Peace (2022)—featuring Pandit Sukhdev Mishra, Dr. Pandit Ranajit Sengupta, and other luminaries—to the minimal ambient synthesizer meditations of Tangerine (2023).
Each album represents a different facet of the sonic journey: ambient psychill, spiritual dubs, world fusion, drone meditation, and classical ambient synthesis. Recorded in studios from London to Varanasi, from Glastonbury to Kolkata, these compositions honor the distinct qualities of space and time that converge to manifest multifaceted realities in music.
