Magham Ensemble

We are delighted to share news of our good friend and fellow musician Tinoush Bahrami featuring at this Traditional Persian Music concert.  The Magham Ensemble will see Tar, Setar, Oud, Percussion and Vocal playing together in this rare opportunity to enjoy Persian music.  Magham Ensemble concentrates on Iranian regional and magham music, and not the Dastgah and Radif system.

Highly Recommended musical magic which will see all benefits from the program going to a very good cause.  Unfortunately the concert is only open to students and University staff, however a guest can accompany a student or staff member of The University of Manchester.  So…. it’s time to befriend a student at Manchester University!

Anouraag @ Milapfest

Ranajit Sengupta, arguably Kolkata’s finest Sarod player will be appearing with his fusion music project, Anouraag,  on 20th February for the Milapfest organised program in the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.  This fascinating project features Ranajit and Miguel Guldimann and his unique 8 Stringed guitar, adapted by him to feature resonant sympathetic strings similar to a Sitar or Sarod.

This event will take place in The Barbirolli Room at The Bridgewater Hall.

The Sarod is one of the most popular and prominent instruments in Hindustani (northern Indian) classical music, known for its deep, weighty and introspective sound. Ranajit Sengupta is a highly talented performer, composer and lecturer. At a young age, Ranajit has already captured a very respectable place in the hearts of Indian music lovers through his soulful solo performances.
