The UK’s foremost Electronic music festival returns one again in the lush environs of Houghton Hall. The idyllic greenery of Englands finest will play host to a plethora of stages and sounds that would keep any techno bunny or psychedelic rainbow warrior indulged in his sonic selections of choice for a whole weekend.
Our very own Darren Sangita (aka Noodreem / Ashirvad) & Jon Sangita (aka E.S.P) have been invited to share their sounds, playing a mix of favoured selections from their stashbag of aural delights in the worlds of dub, ambient electronica and world fusion, blended seamlessly with their own compositions.
Having played at many GLADE festivals in previous years, we can say with certainty that this will be a gathering of the tribes to remember. The promise of great things looms large on the horizon. Prepare for a Cosmic Lift off of epic proportions!!! Shanti Aum.

While its ten tracks sport recognizable elements from previous signature sounds, the spirit of collaboration turns the album into a three-way odyssey leaving musical barriers as distant specks on the horizon, the afore-mentioned dub pulsing in the lower reaches or splintering vocals, which sometimes use vocoder effects to lend a cold, futuristic sheen to the messages.
After the swirling pulsations of ’15 minutes’ and intoxicating strings and contagious bongos of ‘Frog Time’, the album ventures into the orchestral dronescape of ‘Gone phishing’ before the sugar-rush monotone funked-up robo-rap of ‘Just outside’. The electronic wind effect of ’Perfect’ turns loose a slo-mo dub-funk behemoth, goosed by sinister narrative which continues as Giorgio Moroder operates from the Clockwork Orange chemical toilets on the post-apocalyptic city prowl of ‘Section by section’. Arabic dub is an age old sonic concept, whose sound echoes through time round sandstorm laden pyramids. Dubsahara practices this ancient form of Cameltronica in fine style. His recent set at Sonica Festival was a masterful excursion through the ultraworlds, navigating symphonic sinewaves in etheric motion. It was a study in fluid dynamics and inference patterns of fractal geometry skillfully fused with traditional arabic melodies.

Inverse Gravity Vehicle is a musical project by Deborah L. Knights & Jwa Hinton with vocal samples from Prof. J.R.R. Searl featuring a host of guest musicians including Ed Wynne (Ozric Tentacles) and Keith & Steffe (Here and Now). In their extra terrestrial sonic studio in the heart of Glastonbury they channel and co-create some of Avalons’ finest Ambient Auras and Spectral Sonic Soliloquies.
Jwa (aka Joie Hinton) is well known for his keyboard playing in the legendary Ozric Tentacles, Eat Static & Nodens Inctus. His musical evolutionary styles have often created a sonic synaptic bliss and his resonant frequencies shine through here. Along with Deborah L. Knights’s cryptic-mystic Vocals and neo-classical compositions their symbiotic sound weaves a fascinating tale of adventure and mystery. Often equally challenging and engaging, this music is uniquely placed in its aural auric field and fuses the sonic sensibilities of ambient, freaky electro and experiemental music. The essence of each of the pieces and songs draw the listener into the world of possibilities raised by the controversial New Energy Technologist, John Searl and his Inverse Gravity Vehicle.
We approach a new paradigm in Modern Indian music as the seeds of Advaita have taken root and bear fruit. The journey has magical moments and with the inSight of world class producer, John Leckie, this record reflects the deep sound that these musicians can weave while fusing classic rock elements of guitar, bass and drums with the Indian instrumentation of sarangi and Hindustani classical style vocals.
Its not the concept that is new, but the level of skill in the execution of such notions. The variety of tracks move through different of integration and for our taste the opening track, “Rasiya” displays something special of true originality and finesse.
Although the album as a whole reveals the difficulties in bringing together the disparate elements of rock / classical / fusion to create a convincing new whole sound, there is a solid musical journey throughout the album. One or two tracks on the album seem to follow the old models of song creation but we feel Advaita will be better served shifting into the sonic hyper-dimensions of new sound that they have touched on already, particularly with the opening track “Rasiya”.
