Dr. Ashwin Kalbag
Dr Ashwin Kalbag sings thumri with a passion. He was initiated into Hindustani classical music by his 1st guru Sri Gautam and a few years later when he performed at the age of 14 in his 1st public concert to a thousand strong audience his talent was spotted and he had the good fortune of receiving furthur training under the eminent Pandit Prabhakar Karekar and Pandit Murli Manohar Shukla. Thumri and its affiliates like dadra chaiti etc were his calling and he started his training in this aspect of Indian music with Dr Aneeta Sen and currently trains with the legendary Padmavibhusan Pandit Channulal Mishra from Varanasi.
